We are the 1st BET Middle School Magnet in LAUSD and offer an exciting option for students interested in the world of business, entrepreneurship, and technology:
 
  • In addition to a BET curriculum, we offer Career Technical Education (CTE). This high school and job readiness program has its own separate CTE standards and pathways in marketing, sales, and service.
 
 
  • We are also the 1st middle school in the U.S. to advance to the New York National Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, placing the highest at the top 3 across the nation, top 12 in 6 years, and top 36 for 8 consecutive years. Prior to BET Magnet, this level of competition previously consisted of only high school students.
 
  • We are multinational Virtual Enterprise: Junior Ventures and Games for Change Challenge champions (6 in the last 8 years)
 
  • We are 5-time 1st place winners, with at least 2 to 3 BET students in the top 4 in the last 7 years at the Cal State University of Fullerton Titan Fast Business Pitch competition (middle school division 2018 to to 2025).
 
  • We are a school uniform policy magnet.

2024-2025 

 

  • 1st & only LAUSD school to complete 50 Career Technical Certifications.
  • Andre Cheng & Jamie Jimenez advance to the New York NFTE National Finals (Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge) to compete with the top high school students in the U.S.
  • 8 consecutive New York national business finals in 10 years of BET Magnet's existence: 5 BET students in top 10
  • 3 of 4 Los Angeles and Orange County winners in the CSU Fullerton Fast Business Pitch Competition are from BET Magnet
  • 7 consecutive years with at least 2 BET students in the Top 4 of CSUF Titan Fast Pitch Business Competition
  • Games for Change National Competition: World Winner, Monet Park; Teacher Leader Award, Mr. Vasquez; Finalists, Sophia Solis & Eleanor Chatzipantsios.
  • Beat Battle SoCal Music Competition: Out of 713 submissions (5th-12th grade LA schools), Eleanor Chatzipantsios (youngest to create a music track) was 1 of 27 to be recognized at Spotify Headquarters; Mr. Vasquez received the “SoCal Beat Battle Outstanding Educator Award.
  • Virtual Enterprise: Junior Ventures National Business Competition: Career & Essay Winner, Emily Ramirez; Top 10 in the Nation Elevator Pitch: Emily Ocampo & Paulina Jimenez.

 Damian Jimenez, Ashley Cruz Suarez, and Amy Wu at the NFTE West Regional in San Francisco are Top 6 out of over 3000 make it to nationals (top 36) with their wins.

  • In BET’s first year, team “F&M Foldable Skateboards” became the first founders of a middle school business to be L.A. Regional NFTE finalists." They competed against high school seniors. 
  • BET team, “Blob Dot” received the Audience Choice Award at the L.A. Regional NFTE Finals held at the Creative Artists Agency.
