Kinesiology: The Acevedos, Nakano & MHK
| In addition to a medicine and health curriculum, kinesiology was included as a tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Acevedo (a husband and wife teacher combo at Nightingale) and Mr. Nakano. In the last 43 years these three pioneers have maintained the spirit, tradition, and culture of the school–offering a progressive and model kinesiology department that has been deemed "Nightingale's first magnet school." |

| Though Mr. Acevedo and Mr. Nakano have retired recently, they--along with Mrs. Acevedo--have shown L.A. schools how to create a model kinesiology program. Generation upon generation, students have become scholar athletes and champions. |

The trio are deemed the heart and soul of the school. They have inspired (at one time in 2021) 13 of their former students to return and work for Nightingale as teachers, coordinators, and parent reps.
